No more Gmailify. How to keep using Gmail for external email accounts Print

Hello!

Google is phasing out Gmailify, the service that allows Gmail to fetch mail from external accounts. However, it’s not a big issue.
What you can do instead is set up a mail forward (redirect) to your Google account and remove the mail fetching option from Gmail.

Here are the steps:

  1. Set up a mail forward from your cPanel or from your webmail dashboard (if you don’t have cPanel) to Gmail.
  2. Remove the mail fetching option (Gmailify) from Gmail

Step 1 – Set up mail forwarding

  1. Log in to your cPanel
  2. Click on “Forwarders” in the Email section
  3. Set up a forwarder, for example from info@miosito.it to youraccount@gmail.com

If you don’t have cPanel, you can set up the forwarder from your webmail interface (for example webmail.yoursite.com).

Step 2 – Remove mail fetching from Gmail

  1. Log in to Gmail
  2. Click the gear icon in the top-right corner and select “See all settings”
  3. Go to “Accounts and Import”
  4. Under “Check mail from other accounts”, remove the relevant entry

Make sure you keep the entries under “Send mail as”, otherwise you won’t be able to send emails from Gmail using that address.

All the best!
